Welcome to Odla Farm
ODLA
Swedish · to cultivate
We wanted to connect our little farm in North Idaho to our roots in Sweden.
We originally liked the word because it described what we were doing with the land.
Over time, it has come to mean a little more.
We are cultivating food, certainly, but we are also cultivating knowledge, relationships, patience, curiosity, and a connection to this place.
We are still figuring out what that means.
Welcome to Odla Farm.
We never really planned on becoming farmers.
We have always liked the idea of living on a farm in some capacity. We were interested in sustainability, thinking more carefully about where our food came from, and becoming a little more connected to it.
For years, though, it was mostly just an idea.
Hobby farm?
Odla isn't our attempt to build an agricultural empire. The metric has mostly been whether-or-not we are having fun, learning something new, feeding our friends and family, and spending our time doing something that feels meaningful and true.
We think the animals that feed us should get the chance to live like animals.
Animals on our farm get to be themselves. They get to dig in the dirt and live their live the way they were meant to. In this way, we can be connected to the land together.
Most importantly, it has been an opportunity for us to cultivate food that makes us feel good.
The food we produce is free from cruelty and chemicals. It is a product of our integrity and our dedication to the land. This is food that makes us proud.
We are learning what it means to dream big.
Let’s dream big.
